cards and mint tea, essaouira, morocco
classic morocco... late morning light in essaouira, shadows cut across the table. mint tea and a game of shithead to ease us into the day...

ali ben youssef medersa, marrakesh
the glorious atrium of the ali ben youssef medersa in marrakesh.
this koranic school was founded by the Merenid sultan Abou el-Hassan in the mid-14th century, and was rebuilt by the Saadian sultan Moulay Abdallah in the 16th century. architecturally, and with its sumptuous decoration, it is on a par with the Merenid medersas, particularly the Bou Inania Medersa of Fes.
